State Police Announce Operation C.A.R.E Results for Fourth of July Weekend

The Operation C.A.R.E holiday weekend traffic enforcement effort conducted by the State Police has come to a successful conclusion.  During the extended holiday period that began on Wednesday July 4, 2012 at 0001 AM and ended on Sunday July 8, 2012 at 2359 PM, the State Police logged a total of   65  __ motor vehicle accidents throughout the state with 0 fatalities.

Troopers also monitored speed through the use of radar, laser, and aircraft and worked extra patrols looking for alcohol and drug impaired drivers.  State Police Colonel Robert Quinn said the Operation C.A.R.E holiday weekend enforcement effort recorded the following:

901        Speed court summonses
118        Other court
1539      Warnings
39           Defective equipment tags
0             Commercial vehicle violations
2             Seatbelt Warnings
2             Seatbelt Citations
63          Criminal Arrests
15          Suspensions

Colonel Robert Quinn states the NH State Police will continue to operate similar holiday weekend traffic enforcement efforts to promote and emphasize the importance of highway safety.  So far this year there have been further reductions in highway deaths in New Hampshire and these special enforcement efforts are intended as part of an ongoing campaign to save lives.
